This meant that it was 5% faster than the GeForce GTX 570 and a staggering 77% faster than the HD 5870. S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Call of Pripyat also makes good use to Tessellation and again the Radeon HD 6970 performs rather well with an average of 69fps at 1920x1200. We recorded 60 seconds of the first level, dubbed "Zaton". It has an official DirectX 11 benchmark tool, but we decided to dump that in favor of Fraps. S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Call of Pripyat may not be the best looking game out there, but it is a DirectX 11 title and we've tested with it many times. The new Radeon also looked past the dual-GPU Radeon HD 5970 with a 8% advantage, which ultimately meant that it was an incredible 73% faster than the HD 5870. This was 11% faster than the GeForce GTX 570 and just 9% slower than the GTX 580. The card reached an impressive 52fps at 1920x1200.
Anti-aliasing was also disabled and instead we used the default analytical anti-aliasing with 16xAF.Īlthough we ran Metro 2033 with Tessellation disabled, we still saw big gains with the Radeon HD 6970 compared to the previous generation HD 5870. The game was tested with DirectX 11, but Tessellation was left disabled as it hammered performance too severely.
Metro 2033 doesn't have a benchmarking tool, so we used Fraps to gauge GPU performance based on 60 seconds from the "Chase" level. I would also add Left4dead2 to your games. Was keen to try the empire but I don't normally play RPG but that one does look interesting. Crysis and Crysis Warhead are two of my favorite games. Will play those when I am done with Metro.
